Study Finds Stepping On Cracks Unlikely to Break Your Mamma's Back

A new study released by University of Wyoming's behavioral studies lab finds that mothers are safe from the dangers of their children stepping on cracks on sidewalks, but fathers should take measures to ensure their offspring steer clear of these walkway deathtraps.

Out of the 100 study participants, only one reported that her mother suffered "slight back discomfort" after she participated in the study which required that participants step on every crack they notice on the ground for a week's time.

An astonishing 11 participants reported that their fathers suffered from back-related ailments, including a slipped disk, need of chiropractic care, and one even endured such stiffness in his back he was on bed rest for two days after he fell off a ladder.

This study challenges the popular urban legend, pointing out that fathers--not mothers--are the ones in peril when naughty children refused to walk within the lines.
